Perilla leaves on a cobalt and white fleur-de-lis plate

The Apothecary in Your Own Backyard

Traditional herbal knowledge for the urban homesteader. Grown in Woodstock, Georgia.

A Working Garden Apothecary

Finer Farmacy is a working garden apothecary in Woodstock, Georgia. Here, an ordinary suburban yard becomes a farmacy: a place where common plants reveal their traditional uses, and the kitchen and the medicine cabinet meet. This is culinary medicine, the slow way. Every leaf was grown, harvested, and prepared by hand, with intention, from soil to supper.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Plant Profiles — Traditional use and herbalist reports for every plant in the yard.
  • Harvest Calendars — When to gather, what to save, and how to put up each season.
  • Kitchen Preparations — Bone broths, drying, infusing, and preserving the harvest.
  • The Urban Homesteader’s Path — How to start where you are, with the yard you already have.

The Garden

Five plants from the yard, profiled in full — with the traditional use, the harvest window, and the kitchen work for each one.

  • Mullein — Herbalist reports describe its traditional use for respiratory support.
  • Perilla — A cooling culinary leaf, prized in the summer kitchen.
  • Goose Grass — Herbalist reports describe its traditional use as a spring lymphatic.
  • Nut Grass — Roasted tubers from an ancient food tradition.
  • Wild Cucumber — A root held in high regard by traditional healers.

Start Where You Are

You don’t need acreage. You need a yard, a sidewalk strip, a pot on a porch. The farmacy was never about the size of the land. It’s about learning to see what’s already growing at your feet.
